The Wikimedia Terms of Use “prohibit engaging in deceptive activities, including misrepresentation of affiliation, impersonation, and fraud. As part of these obligations, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.”
Wikipedia is a project under WikiMedia. Wikipedia has further defined COI as “incompatibility between the aim of Wikipedia, which is to produce a neutral, reliably sourced encyclopedia, and the aims of an individual editor. COI editing involves contributing to Wikipedia to promote your own interests, including your business or financial interests, or those of your external relationships, such as with family, friends or employers.”
In the case of WhiteHatWiki, we always we strive to make any editing or contributions we make to be in full compliance with Wikipedia’s mission and, since we accept payment, we fully disclose that we may have a conflict of interest.
